in the mood...

...for LEGO?
If you're a fan of both LEGO and cakes (and who isn't?), you might find this marshmallow building blocks from Betty Crocker incredibly delicious!
They only take about 3 hours to make - for those who have time to spend cooking. But it's probably extremely fun to build them up and colour them and...eat them, of course!
So...enjoy!

this might come as a shocker...

...or not

License plate bags/purses seem to be all the rage! They're even on Sart's blog!
Made out of "the real thing", they can make or break an outfit, depending on how u see it. Or use it :)
Thing is, they can easily fall into the kitsch category, but if we keep in mind that "kitsch" and "cool" are both on the same fine line, things could get more complicated than that. So...are they drool material for you or rather not?

go on...

...pick one!
Greeting colleagues, waiting paciently by the coffee machine, swearing, laughing, sharing food.
Everybody knows what I'm talking about! It's WORK! Yeah, work.
Now we've got the comic cube variant - just roll it and see what you've got. 5 cubes for 5 days. Ain't that cute?

storage problems?

...not anymore!
This weekend I tried to make some light in the mess that is my room. Tough luck! I just realized I own too - - no, way too- - no, super extra over the top way too many things :(
Which is not really so bad, as I love them all. It is a problem in terms of storage, though...
To say the truth, they all find themselves a place to stay, and it seems fine - until someone comes in and says: "Wow, what a mess!".
So I've decided to invest in some of these cool straps from Droog Design. Taking the bike straps a step further, they give your house a completely new look - tidy, that is. (Not that I'm saying your houses aren't tidy, I'm just thinking about mine :P)
Rubber, anyone?

nuts advertising!

I dunno why lately all these posts have been about food *straight face*, 'cause I know I ate for lunch :) I guess it's just a domain of interest for so many people, as they do lots of great stuff for it. This time, it's the Cheeky Monkey prints from Clemenger BBDO in Australia.
They're so simple, yet soooo funny! You can't stop smiling when looking at them - and they provide such a cool attitude for the brand.
I like the copy, I like the art direction and I also like the cute monkey logo. And I'm sure I'd like the product, too. And with names like "Casablanca Crunch", "Nut Mania" and "Orchard Situation", who wouldn't like to at least try one?
I'm nuts about them (yeah, I know, lame pun, but it's almost the week-end, so who's thinking? :))
P.S.: Don't forget to click on the pics, they're worth it!

party like...

...an animal!

Animal prints are still in this season, but you really gotta know the right dose in order to create a great outfit! Still, if you're not sure you can master this look and you're afraid of what people might say, we say: "no worries!".
There's something even cooler out there! Try the Fauchon Leopard Eclair - with coffee or chocolate cream - and leave everybody open-mouthed!

got a...

...Barbie crush?
I don't think there's a girl out there who didn't fancy Barbie in her youth. Even the tomboys used to sneak in the house and play with their fave doll after climbing trees and getting into fights with the guys. She was just impossible to resist! :)
But if Barbie was your ideal, Panik's Toy Box is about to change your world completely. Meet Trash Talkin' Turleen, the sophisticated trailer queen. It's Barbie all grown up - and with a bun in the oven! Check out the delicate gestures on her and the elegant make-up. And if you just can't get enough, push her belly button and listen to her gorgeous language!

you too can be...

...Captain Planet
The eco-trend seems to have been embraced by more and more people, and that's a good thing. As for me, I've always tried to do good stuff for the environment whenever that was possible - of course, I don't exaggerate, but I try to do my part. And we all should, especially now, when things are getting pretty much out of hand.
Can't decide to pick up an eco-friendly attitude? Maybe some celebrity DOs can help. Cameron Diaz is really a role model in this area, as she's known for her good deeds nature-wise. Besides the fact she drives a hybrid car, sports eco-friendly fashion and so on, she's also careful not to waste water. How? Hmmm...by not flushing the toilet everytime she goes. Yup, that's right. You heard well. Not flushing. If it's only a "number one", she says, it can stay there.
A bit strange, we agree, but hey, some go over the edge to help nature! Couldn't we at least do the obvious things?

well, it's...

...about time
Designer Bruno Vormkrijgers created this wonderful clock - yeah, that's what it is :) - for all you modern people. By now, it's a fact that we carefully plan every minute of our life and we're in a constant hurry. As for me, I'm always late for everything, though I try to get there in time :) But I'm watch-addicted. I mean, I really feel lost without always knowing what time it is.
So that's why this "About Time" clock is here. To start reminding us that time is what we make of it and that we can really take a second more to look out on the window and see beautiful things. Who cares if we're late for that appointment or if the deadline will expand? "It's about six o'clock" or maybe "It's almost seven now". So relax :)

peel...

...for light

How do you dim the light? Just peel! Designer Demelza Hill took her inspiration from nature, where she noticed how plants reveal different layers through the seasons. The Reveal Lamp is a sculptural take on indoor lighting. It is both functional and visually stimulating, making the user really take part in the process of creating a cozy atmosphere.
Pretty fly, huh? :)

dinner will be served...

...in a minute
I was thinking about the last time I prepared dinner for my cute bf. It was soooooooooooo long ago! I guess he's preparing dinner a lot more often :)
Shame on me! But there you go, I never said I had any talent in cooking. Still, I guess I could bring the wine. And some glasses. The ones above, for example. Isn't that what you could call a partnership? We totally share the chores :)

It's Friday...

...quote time
Yeah, I know. There is no "Friday quote" tradition. But I found a nice quote and wanted to share :) 'Xcuse the method :P
It goes like this: "When I'm good, I'm very good, but when I'm bad, I'm better". Cute, huh? :)
And because everyone's allowed to choose their mood, we found a nice selection of coin purses at Juice Planning. Funny Face or Grinning Skull? U choose! They're funky and not very expensive, so you can indulge.
It's great...I think I can feel the soooperficial breeze on this blog again. Maybe it's the great weather outside, but it sure feels nice :)
Happy wknd, everyone!

who's up...

...for a food fight?

General Mills is giving you the chance to play with your food and also learn something along the way. Splat and splash as much as you want! You're in The Good Food Fight! The site is pretty entertaining and also a good tool for learning useful stuff - especially if you're always on the go and keep eating all that junk food!

innovative...

...with flying colors

HP created this piece of innovative advertising in order to show consumers that there really is a big difference between printers in terms of color quality. The "true to life colors" campaign aims to change the common perception which considers all printers and inks to be the same.

why dontcha...

...try the trompe l'oeil effect?
Not a big fan of the Versace style, but this watch is gold. Well, it actually is gold, but that's not what I'm talking about. Despite the karat part, I totally love the "told u u were drunk" effect you can achieve with it. Just imagine, being in a club with your best friend or your boyfriend, someone's had a little bit too much too drink and you just pull this little gem out of your pocket. Imagine that expression! Priceless, isn't it? :)
Photo from ELLE.

oh, yeah...

... I feel just like a child :)
Well, that's a good feeling, if I might say so. If you haven't listened to the song yet, click here. Not growing up is the way to go!!
And we're not just saying that because it sounds good. Kids these days are way trendier than most adults. And they love the attention! Look at these cute animals that can make dinner a real party. Or the animal print nursing bottles - don't you feel your coffee cups are so yesterday? :)
If you want an instant update, try making friends with some 3-9 year olds, or better yet, go here.

the only thing I can say is that...

...I love FIFI

Who's the most stylish rabbit around? Well, Fifi, of course! With a designer wardrobe that would sweep any fashionista off her feet, this little rabbit girl can always make you smile. She's beyond perfect, don't you agree? :)
Check her outfits here and buy here.

how to...

...do everything better

Today's piece of cool comes from John Maeda (via metacool), who gives us the Laws of Simplicity. To see how much details matter, read his commentary below:

When sitting down at a restaurant in Minneapolis, I noticed the waiter replaced my white napkin with a black one. Apparently the tradition here is that if you are wearing black trousers or a dark skirt, the reasoning is that a white linen napkin might leave visible lint on your clothing so they immediately swap it for a black one. Such careful attention to detail surely develops trust. I wonder how many of these kind of subtle details are managed at finer eating establishments. I looked for a list on the Web and couldn’t find anything comprehensive. The closest I could find were references to chilled silverware when serving cold appetizers, but I figure there are a few more subconciously discernable practices in the presentation of a meal out there … my hunt begins.

Hmmm...I dunno about you, but returning from a 5-star hotel that "stylishly" combined marble corridors with plastic chairs and tables, I'm very impressed by gestures like the one described above. Whatever. I guess most of the people there didn't even notice the plastic stuff. Might explain their good opinion about the place. Hummm...this makes me think about another question: is raising the level a good thing? Or maybe getting money out of people's ignorance is the way to go? Obviously, I'd say one should do "the right thing", but lately I've been pretty dissappointed when I did that. Doesn't anyone believe in that anymore? Is it so over-rated? So...pasee? :)
Wut do you think, guys?

what doesn't kill you...

...really makes you stronger (I guess)
These last days have been a bit hard for me. I've learned a lot, that's why. [I usually skip classes and stuff, so learning too much in a very short period of time is harsh on my little brain, y'know?] :)
Now seriously, I've really had to manage things and take care of stuff, and I was sooo not good at it. In fact, I didn't do anything bad to others - which is great, but I'm not so sure about me :)
Humm...I'm being a bit cryptic, I know, but I can't help it. It's really hard for me to understand it also...maybe that's why. Either way, sorry for the not-so-superficial-and-fun tone of this post, but that's me today. Still, I found something that might make it all better. Yeah, these cute Woodland Critters are really good for the soul. Just by looking at them you get happier, don't you think so? For blue-hearted moments like these, buy the set of illustrations by John W Golden here.
